The great promise

In the history of man, a promise was made that that would surpass all others: that of the coming Messiah. The Old Testament gives hundreds of clues as to the personality and purpose of the Messiah. This mystery was known to faithful men, that in the dispensation of the fullness of time, he may gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth – in Him (Ephesians 1:10). That promise is now available to all mankind.

The arrival of the Messiah was glorious yet unadorned. He came to us in the form of a baby born to a virgin. His humble beginning on earth marked the essence of His character as the true Messiah. Yes, the gift of salvation came as a little child born in a manger. God fulfilled His promise in a simple and practical manner.

Take time this Christmas to meditate upon this great gift from God, and open your heart to His great promise. Make your life a gift to God by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, and you will be saved.
