SERVING WITH PRIORITIES
Descargar
In an interview with Barbara Walters, Oprah Winfrey stated that she opted out of motherhood in order to meet her career demands. She went on to explain that she did not want to have a child that complained of neglect because of her busy schedule. Her honest declaration makes sense; people need to realize that serving others requires the proper perspective with regards to priorities. Before we go out to conquer the world, we must first learn to serve those closest to us well.
There is no personal gain in serving strangers while neglecting those we know personally. What we do in our immediate circle of family and friends impacts others. If we do well in this first, we will probably do well with the second. It is a matter of prioritizing our service. In other words, if our house is in order, we can help our neighbors place his or her house in order. We need to be faithful with those around us first before we can serve others.
The proper order of serving others makes us more productive and fruitful. When we learn and apply first thing first, our service has greater potential of value and purpose. We should serve our immediate family first; then our closest relatives and friends. Finally, we should seek opportunities to serve those in need in our community.
Certainly, our service depends on God. Jesus is our greatest example of a servant. We must learn to follow His Spirit in order to serve properly. Jesus, as Lord and Savior, offers us the great opportunity to serve with love and other eternal principles. We must have Jesus in our hearts in order to touch others with our service. To receive Jesus in your heart, you must confess Him with your mouth and believe it in your heart that He paid the price of your salvation. Once you have taken this step, your life is empowered by His purpose to serve others properly.
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Galatians 6:10
